CEREMONIAL TATTOO

Cinematography by Marigold Media

Remembering an ancient way.
The art form of creating tattoos dates back more than 5,500 years. It was done by the ancient hand-poked techniques of carrying a small amount of ink (previously ash) under the skin by a hand held needle.
Vondove approaches this ancient craft inclusive of the ancient techniques, from an intentional and ceremonial angle. Ceremonial tattoo is the most integrated way of receiving a marking, where your entire being and internal world is considered in the process. You are held in an intimate 1:1 space - in a light-filled studio conducive for the holding of the body, ease of the mind and the subtlety of Spirit.
This is a powerful medicine of self development & creation. Vondove works in homage to remembering and re-igniting the old ways of this craft, ancestrally used in a shamanic format to create tattoos of protection, celebration, healing, belonging to self & tribe.
However honouring the medicine of tattoo, her work and process does not claim to belong to nor borrow from any particular lineage of shamanic tattooing. This is her own curated approach to hold this craft with the sanctity that it deserves, as well as that of the person receiving.
